Refund Policy

Last updated: December 1, 2025

At Children of Ummah, we are committed to using every donation effectively to serve those in need. We understand that sometimes circumstances change, and we have established this refund policy to address such situations.

General Policy

As a charitable organization, donations made to Children of Ummah are generally considered final and non-refundable. This is because your donations are often committed to projects and beneficiaries immediately or shortly after receipt.

When Refunds May Be Considered

We may consider refund requests in the following circumstances:

  • Duplicate Donations: If you accidentally made the same donation twice
  • Incorrect Amount: If you entered an amount significantly different from your intention (e.g., $1,000 instead of $100)
  • Unauthorized Transaction: If you believe your payment method was used without authorization
  • Technical Error: If a technical issue resulted in an unintended charge

Refund Request Timeline

To be considered for a refund, requests must be submitted within:

  • 7 days for general donations
  • 24 hours for Zakat donations (as these are distributed quickly)
  • Before distribution for project-specific donations

Recurring Donations

For recurring (monthly) donations:

  • You may cancel future recurring donations at any time through your dashboard or by contacting us
  • Cancellation will take effect before the next billing cycle
  • Past recurring donations that have already been processed are subject to the same refund policy as one-time donations

How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please contact us with the following information:

  • Your full name and email address used for the donation
  • Date and amount of the donation
  • Reason for the refund request
  • Any relevant transaction IDs or receipts

Processing Time

If your refund request is approved:

  • We will process the refund within 5-10 business days
  • The refund will be credited to the original payment method
  • It may take an additional 5-10 business days for the refund to appear in your account, depending on your financial institution

Tax Implications

If a refund is issued, any tax receipt previously provided for that donation will be voided. You will receive an updated receipt or notification for your tax records.

Zakat Considerations

Please note that from an Islamic perspective, once Zakat has been given with the intention of fulfilling your obligation, the spiritual obligation is considered fulfilled. However, if a refund is issued due to error or unauthorized use, you may need to recalculate your Zakat obligation. We recommend consulting with a scholar for guidance.
